Three decades of collaborative nursing education

The BScN (Collaborative) Program is a four-year program leading to a baccalaureate degree in nursing. Its curriculum was developed together by all of the province’s schools of nursing and was first offered in the 1996–97 academic year.

For three decades, it has prepared nurses for practice in Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond. The Faculty of Nursing is proud to deliver it today alongside the Centre for Nursing Studies and the Western Regional School of Nursing.

Accreditation and approval

  • Four consecutive maximum accreditations
The program has received the full seven-year accreditation from the (CASN) - the highest possible accreditation period - four consecutive times.
  • Approved by the NL College of Nurses
All three schools are approved by the , the province’s nursing regulator.

The NL College of Nurses was formed in April 2026, when the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) and the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador merged. It now regulates registered nurses, nurse practitioners, licensed practical nurses and registered psychiatric nurses under one organization.
