The OERC's goals are as follows:
- Advance ocean engineering research and technology development in Canada.
- Promote broader cooperation and interaction among research partners and between ocean engineering/technology stakeholders and the research community.
- Foster an innovative research climate, technology transfer, entrepreneurship and commericialization of research.
- Play an active role in shaping government policy in ocean engineering and the marine technology sector.
Research
Advance ocean engineering research and technology development in Canada
- The aims of the Ocean Engineering Research Centre are to support the growth of ocean engineering research at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University and facilitate the application of research and development work for our stakeholder community.
Cooperate
Promote broader cooperation and interaction among research partners and between ocean engineering/technology stakeholders and the research community
- Provide forums and catalysts for research teams to form and identify and pursue opportunities through varous mechanisms (e.g. collaborative projects, granting council applications, JIPs).
- Provide networking opportunities for faculty researchers with other researchers and community stakeholders (e.g. industry and government).
Innovate
Foster an innovative research climate, technology transfer, entrepreneurship and commericialization of research
- Mentoring for new faculty to help launch research activities.
- Commercialization and technology transfer opportunities for intellectual property.
Shape
Play an active role in shaping government policy in ocean engineering and the marine technology sector
- Advocacy of technical positions that have important public policy ramifications.
- Serve on policy making/advisory committees.
