10.2 Registration in the College of Physicians and Surgeons and Other Approvals

All听Newfoundland and Labrador-based students must be listed on the Education Register of the (CPSNL) and PEI-based students must听be listed on the Education Register for the听 (CPSPEI).

The Faculty of Medicine does not require criminal record checks or other screening procedures as a condition of admission to its program.

Students, however, should be aware that听criminal records checks, vulnerable听sector screening, or other screening procedures may be required by agencies used by the University for professional registration, clinical experiences or academic course assignments necessary for graduation. Such agencies may refuse to accept students on the basis of information contained in the record check or other screening procedure thus preventing the student from completing a practice experience or other requirement. As a result, such students may not be eligible for promotion or graduation. The student is responsible for having such procedures completed as required at the student's own expense. The screening procedures of any given agency may change from time to time and are beyond the control of the University.
