Fully half of the previous writing on ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University College has focussed directly upon the inspiring personality and leadership of the first president, John Lewis Paton. He took on the work with amazing energy for a man in his sixties. During 1925-1933 the standards, traditions and success of the new junior college were solidly established. It could be thought difficult to create a new institution out of mere aspiration. A key assist in understanding Paton's experience in Newfoundland is to realize that he found it very easy.
