The Ocean Frontier Institute (OFI) is a collaborative ocean research institute that is designed to deliver social, economic, and environmental benefits.
Established in 2015, research is focused on three key areas: achieving net zero, protecting biodiversity, and sustaining bioresources.
OFI research is made possible through funding from the (CFREF) and various private and public-sector organizations.
OFI represents an historic partnership between ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University, Dalhousie University, the University of Prince Edward Island through the CFREF program "Safe and Sustainable Development of the Ocean Frontier (SSDOF). This program catalyzed a new collaboration linking ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University, Dalhousie University, Université du Québec à Rimouski and Université Laval through the CFREF program "Transforming Climate Action" (TCA).
