Bio

Dr. Tari Ajadi is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and Adjunct Professor at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½. His research compares how Black activists in municipalities across Canada strategize to build durable coalitions towards justice. As a British-Nigerian immigrant to Canada, Tari’s goal is to produce research that supports and engages with the heterogenous experiences of Black communities across the country. He is a co-author of the Defunding the Police: Defining the Way Forward for HRM report released in January 2022. In addition, he is a frequent contributor and commentator on issues facing Black communities across Canada in both local and national media outlets. He is currently working on his first monograph, Between Uprisings: Black-led Community Organizations & The Fight for Self-Determination (McGill-Queen’s University Press, forthcoming).  He holds a PhD and an MA from Dalhousie University in Canadian Politics.
