Canada Research Chairs (CRC) Administration and Management at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University
Purpose
To govern the processes of allocating and applying for Canada Research Chairs at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University.
Scope
All faculties/schools at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University in relation to the Canada Research Chairs Program.
Definitions
Allocation: Refers to the assignment of a vacant CRC position to a faculty/school in a particular thematic area.
Allocation Pool: Refers to the institutional allotment of CRC positions or the institutional
reserve of available positions.
CRC: Canada Research Chair as administered by the .
CRCOC: CRC Oversight Committee, consisting of the Vice-President (Research), who shall Chair the CRCOC, the Provost & Vice-President (Academic), an Associate Vice-President (Research and Innovation) and an Deputy Provost. The primary responsibility of the CRCOC is the effective management of the University's CRCs. Research Initiatives and Services (RIS) will support the Committee through administration, reporting and analysis. In carrying out its responsibilities, the CRCOC may consult and seek opinions from other groups and/or individuals.

Policy
CRCs are an important research resource that are deployed through a rigorous process designed to optimize effectiveness in advancing the University’s strategic research priorities, while facilitating equitable opportunities for access to CRCs throughout the University. Achieving these objectives requires a robust mechanism for allocating CRCs in strategic areas across the University.
The recruitment and nomination of all CRC positions follow , which are based on the principles of openness, transparency and accountability. All CRCs at the University are managed and distributed according to the allocation processes described in this policy’s accompanying procedures (Procedures for allocation, renewal and increase or reduction of CRCs at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University).
As per CRCP’s , the University’s current and previous CRC opportunities are available on the University’s Academic Recruitment website. Additionally, all past and current chair holders are listed on the website of the Office of the Vice- President (Research and Innovation). CRC opportunities are open to all qualified internal and external candidates, advertised broadly and in keeping with the CRCP’s equity targets, the , and this policy.
