Let's Talk Cancer
Friday, April 24th, 2026
The Faculty of Medicine hosted Let’s Talk Cancer, a free in‑person outreach event designed to connect high school students with leading researchers and clinicians in cancer biology. The program introduced students to current cancer research and engaged them through interactive, hands‑on learning activities. Dr. Stephanie Pomeroy delivered an introductory presentation on oncology, highlighting career pathways in the field with a particular focus on the day‑to‑day work and responsibilities of an Oncologist.

Swim for Hope
Dr. Suzanne Drodge, Associate Professor of Oncology and a Radiation Oncologist, addressed youth swimmers participating in the Swim for Hope on March 6, 2026, in St. John’s. The annual fundraiser supports cancer care across the province. Dr. Drodge spoke with the swimmers about the importance of accessible, high‑quality cancer care and the impact their efforts have on patients and families throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
