SUBJECT: PSA: Gala concert celebrates major endowment

A special Faculty Gala Concert on Friday, Feb. 27, will pay tribute to the single largest bequest to ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University’s School of Music.
The evening will honour the establishment of the Procunier Family Scholarships in Music, four full-tuition scholarships made possible by an endowment from the estate of Edwin R. Procunier, a Newfoundlander, opera aficionado and art collector who passed away in 2011. In addition to his bequest to the School of Music, Mr. Procunier left a sizable collection of famous artwork to Newfoundland and Labrador.
Faculty artists will perform a varied and entertaining program including classical works by Brahms and Taffanel, new works by Bill Brennan and Andrew Staniland and a selection of Newfoundland and Labrador folksongs arranged by D.F. Cook.
The gala begins at 7:30 p.m. in the D.F. Cook Recital Hall on the St. John’s campus. Tickets are $20/$15 (students and seniors) and are on sale at the door, ticketpro.ca, the Travel Bug on Water Street and at The Attic in the University Centre.
