SUBJECT: Grand opening of new Autonomous Ocean Systems Laboratory at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University

Media representatives are invited to attend the grand opening of ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University’s Autonomous Ocean Systems Laboratory (AOSL) on Tuesday,
June 8.
Participants include Dr. Ray Gosine, vice president (research) pro tempore, ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University; Glenn Janes, chief executive officer of Research & Development Corporation of Newfoundland and Labrador; and Dr. Ralf Bachmayer, associate professor and Canada Research Chair in Ocean Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ and principal investigator of the Autonomous Ocean Systems Laboratory.
The event will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Autonomous Ocean Systems Laboratory (room EN-1035E) of the S.J. Carew (Engineering) Building, ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University, St. John’s Campus. A reception will follow.
Please note: Following the grand opening, media representatives are invited on a special guided description and demonstration of the latest research projects and equipment in the AOSL. There will also be a demonstration of the Sea-eye Falcon Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) manoeuvring and performing tasks in the faculty’s Ocean Engineering Research Centre’s tow tank. Please wear closed-toe footwear.
