SUBJECT: Local students each garner $1,200 scholarships

Paying for their post-secondary education just got a little easier for several ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ students. They recently received scholarships valued at $1,200 each thanks to a day on the links.
Newfoundlandand Labradorrecipients were: Gregory Jenkins of Corner Brook, Jennifer Goulding of Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Joseph Fitzgerald of the Goulds.
Erin Schwenger of Bathurst, New Brunswick,also received a scholarship, as did Yu Shan Hung of Taiwan.
More than 150 golfers on some 30 teams teed off in the 8th annual ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Scholarship Golf Tournament on Sept. 13 at The Wilds at Salmonier, a popular golf course located just outside of St. John’s.
Over the years, the tournament has helped raise more than $140,000 in an endowment and awarded more than $26,000 in scholarships.
Scotiabank Commercial Banking is the corporate partner of the event.
