I am a first year student interested in pursuing the Bachelor of Commerce program. If I decide later, I want to pursue the Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op), does that same advice I received apply?
No. The advice you receive for the Bachelor of Commerce program will differ if you decide to pursue co-op. This works both ways in that advice provided for co-op may not necessarily need to be followed if you decide to pursue commerce.
Which math course should I take in Year One Commerce?

Year One Commerce requires either MATH 1090 or MATH 1000 or MATH 1005.
If you have further questions about which math course you are eligible to take, email mathugrad@mun.ca.
Can I take two English courses to complete the English/CRW requirement?
There are a number of course combinations you can take to meet the English/CRW requirement:
- Two ENGL courses (such as ENGL 1090 and ENGL 1110)
- One ENGL course and one CRW course (such as ENGL 1090 and FOLK 1005)
Some English courses, such as ENGL 1090, are both English and CRW courses. This means you may count it as one English course or one CRW course towards your Year One Commerce requirements. You may not count a course twice to meet both the English and CRW requirements.
I failed a course for Year One Commerce. What do I do now?
If you are intending to continue in the Bachelor of Commerce, you can simply retake the course again at a time that works for you. We would advise that you complete all Year One Commerce courses at the beginning of your program.
If you have a failed a course that is required for Year One Commerce during the fall or winter semester and you intend to apply for the B.Comm. The Faculty of Business Administration will still consider Fall applicants who have courses in-progress during the Spring semester.
If you have failed a course during the intersession, or spring, semester that’s required for Year One Commerce, you should meet with an academic advisor to discuss your program planning. To schedule an appointment with an academic advisor, email busihelp@mun.ca.
