Before joining the Department of Archaeology, I worked for three years as a conservator for the and four years as Conservator at the in Ferryland. I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of groups including archaeologists, curators and conservators on a wide range of artifacts excavated from terrestrial and marine contexts, both aboriginal and colonial. The archaeological research carried out at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ allows me to work on a diverse range of materials from numerous projects undertaken all over the province, from northern Labrador to the southern Avalon. My current work mainly involves the treatment of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and organic artifacts. Each new assemblage and artifact presents its own set of conservation challenges and I am particularly interested in new ways of treating composite artifacts manufactured from materials such as iron/lead, iron/bone, iron/wood to name but a few.
